MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — Sammy Swindell won the inaugural Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions visit to Orange County Fair Speedway on Saturday night, leading all 25 circuits for his 26th career All Star victory.

Swindell banked $10,000 as a result of his performance.

Driving the Jared Zimbardi-owned Bundle of Warmth/Performance Powder Coating No. 35s, Swindell nearly swept the evening program. He set the fastest time of the night during Lincoln Electric Time Trials, won the JE Pistons Dash and wired the A-Main.

The only blemish at all on his night was a fourth-place finish in his heat race, but Swindell wasn’t worried about that.

“This car was a pleasure to drive. We learned some things last night and capitalized on them today,” Swindell said. “With a deal like tonight, all you can do is drive as straight as you can and keep the tires underneath you. Luckily for us, we were able to hang on. We hope to continue this trend tomorrow at Lebanon Valley.”

Swindell withstood four cautions during the main, and unfortunately for those involved, all four cautions included competitors racing within the top 10.

Tyler Esh, Justin Barger and Arctic Cat All Star point leader Chad Kemenah were among those caught up during the night’s incidents. Esh was racing second when his right rear tire went flat, erasing a potential career-high finish.

Caleb Helms, who started ninth on the main event grid, gave Swindell his only true challenge during the 25-lapper.

Helms actually drove around the three-time World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion at the entrance of Turn 1 on lap 22, but the pass was negated due to a full lap not being completed before the final caution of the night came out.

From there, Swindell returned to the point and remained there for the final four circuits, with Helms in tow.

Rookie of the Year contender Brandon Spithaler worked his way forward from 10th to finish third during his first ever Orange County Fair Speedway start, followed by Paulie Colagiovanni and Stewart Friesen.

Friesen was also a victim of tire issues, restarting at the back of the field after coming to a stop with nine laps in the books, but rallied back through the field in the closing stages.
