SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Dale Coyne Racing announced prior to qualifying for the 101st Indianapolis 500 that four-time American open wheel champion Sebastien Bourdais’ No. 18 Honda will be backed by longtime partner GEICO.
GEICO has been involved in IndyCar as a sponsor for 12 years, last visiting the winner’s circle at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2013, when Tony Kanaan scored his first victory in the ‘Greatest Spectacle in Racing’ with KV Racing Technologies.
In their four-year partnership with Bourdais, GEICO has accompanied the Frenchman to victory lane five times, most recently at the season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 12.
Bourdais led ‘Fast Friday’ practice at the Speedway and picked up the Harding Group Fastest Lap Award in the process. His speed leaves him optimistic heading into next week’s race.
“This is the fourth season that I’ve had the privilege of having GEICO on my car, and I couldn’t be more pleased to have them step up as a primary partner for the biggest race of the season,” said Bourdais. We’ve had some great performances already this season and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do next Sunday with the GEICO Honda.”
