CHARLOTTE, N.C. – official series release – PASS photo —
As the weather continues to heat up down south, so does the racing. For the first time in series history, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models will compete on back-to-back nights at Anderson Motor Speedway and Hickory Motor Speedway. The PASS Carolina Doubleheader will take place June 17-18 and will see the best Super Late Models in the south compete at two of the region’s most challenging speedways.
Anderson Motor Speedway in the South Carolina Upstate will host the Electric City Twin 125s on Friday night, June 17th and will feature both the PASS South Super Late Models and the Southern Modified Racing Series (SMRS) Tour Modifieds. Last year, Jared Irvan prevailed over Roger Lee Newton and Clay Rogers in one of the best races of the season.
With the addition of the SMRS Tour Modifieds, fans of the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee will get their final opportunity to see two of the fastest divisions in racing compete together prior to the North-South Shootout at Concord Speedway in November. Filling out this exciting card of racing at Anderson Motor Speedway will be the USAC Eastern Midgets, B-M Modifieds, and Front Wheel Drive divisions.
The following the night, the PASS South Super Late Models and USAC Eastern Midgets will make the short trek north to Hickory Motor Speedway for the 9th Running of the Over The Mountain 150. Hickory Motor Speedway has long been a favorite of the PASS South stars, but the series has only competed at Hickory once during the summer.
Justin Wakefield claimed the checkered flag at Hickory in the Independence 150 in July, 2009. In addition to PASS South and the USAC Eastern Midgets, a strong field of Mid-Atlantic Limited Late Models is also expected, led by former track champion, Mack Little.
Several drivers have already filed entries for both legs of the PASS Carolina Doubleheader with more expected this week. PASS South Super Late Model entry forms for Anderson Motor Speedway and Hickory Motor Speedway can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com. Schedules for both events will be posted soon
The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America’s premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and Modifieds and boasts such marquee events as the legendary HP Hood Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway and PASS South’s Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.
