MOORESVILLE, N.C. – After an impressive runner-up finish in his first race last weekend at Madison Int’l Speedway with Mason Mitchell Motorsports, Kyle Weatherman will return to the seat of the No. 98 machine for this weekend’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event at Winchester Speedway.
The Herr’s Potato Chips 200 will be Weatherman’s second straight event with MMM, after competing with Lira Motorsports in the first eight rounds of the season.
“I love high-banked tracks,” Weatherman said. “Salem and Winchester are quite similar to one another; however, Winchester has a lot more grip. Winchester is a multi-groove track which allows you to race side-by-side and search for new lanes.”
“I am looking forward to working with Mason and the MMM guys. They all work very hard to prepare fast cars and I think we will be in contention to win on Sunday. They won this race last year, I want to make it two years in a row for them.”
The 18-year-old and defending ARCA Short Track Challenge presented by Protect Plus champion enters the 10th race of the 2016 season third in Short Track Challenge points. This weekend’s race is the fifth in this year’s Short Track Challenge.
Weatherman is no stranger to success racing on short tracks in the ARCA Racing Series. In 27 starts, he’s earned 16 top-five and 22 top-10 finishes on tracks less than one mile in length. At Winchester, he has a pole and two top-fives in three starts, with a best finish of fourth twice.
Last year, MMM won at Winchester when Austin Wayne Self wrestled the lead away from Brandon Jones on the afternoon’s final restart.
